James and Rachel Greve are the owners of Kellner International. James Greve said he and his wife took ownership of the restaurant three years ago, after his uncle, Robert Spohn ran it for 35 years.

“I think (fish fries) are a staple here in central Wisconsin,” James Greve said. “I’ve been coming up here since I was a young child. I always came up here in my youth just for the fish fries. We have families that come from all over central Wisconsin, sometimes an hour or more away just to come for our fish fries.”

The restaurant offers two- or three-piece beer-battered Alaskan pollock, served with a choice of potato, a piece of bread and coleslaw, James Greve said. Customers can choose from baked potato, potato pancakes, french fries or homemade potato salad.

A secondary fish option changes week to week, as the Greves have a variety of fresh fish flown in to the restaurant. Grilled salmon or broiled grouper are often on the menu, James Greve said. Sometimes, they offer a special marinated, grilled shark steak. Prices range from $9.95 to $15.95.

Rachel Greve said the restaurant serves fish fries from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays, and they offer a variety of craft beers and drink specials, as well.

“You can have your favorite glass of wine or favorite craft beer with your Friday fish fry,” she said.

Kellner International is open 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays and Tuesdays through Thursdays, and 11 a.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays. The restaurant is closed Mondays. For more information, find Kellner International Bar and Grill on Facebook.
