Another winter storm is expected to hit Wisconsin Sunday.

GREEN BAY - More snow is expected to fall across Wisconsin early this week, prompting a winter weather advisory Sunday for a large portion of the state.

Snow began to fall Sunday morning in central Wisconsin and was expected to spread across the state throughout the day, according to the National Weather Service in Green Bay. The weather service said central Wisconsin would be the hardest hit, with up to 4 inches of snow falling in Marshfield, Wausau, Stevens Point, Green Bay and surrounding cities. In Oshkosh, 2 to 3 inches is predicted, with 1 to 2 inches expected in Manitowoc.

The snow may become heavy at some times but should taper off by evening. The weather service warned that travel across the state may be impacted by slippery conditions.

Large portions of central, east-central, northcentral and northeast Wisconsin are under a winter weather advisory until 9 p.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

A second storm will move across the state Monday night through Tuesday night, the weather service said. That storm could bring up to six additional inches of snow in central and eastern Wisconsin and other areas across the state.

Up to six inches of snow could also be expected in some places on Monday night into Tuesday.

Along with the falling snow Monday night through Tuesday, the National Weather Service is also predicting blowing and drifting snow and hazardous travel conditions.

This follows on the heels of two storms last week that dumped more than a foot of snow in parts of the state. Last week's storms caused cities in central Wisconsin to put into effect snow emergencies that prohibited vehicles from parking on streets and towing bans. The storm also caused schools across the state to cancel classes, sports activities and other events.

Last week's storms dumped 6.1 inches of snow in Wausau and 1.9 inches in Green Bay on Tuesday, and 6.5 inches in Wausau and 1.8 inches in Green Bay on Thursday. Wausau has seen 13.8 inches of snow fall so far this month, while Green Bay has had an accumulation of 4 inches, according to the National Weather Service.
