Weekly Animal Feed, Central U.S.: Feb. 08, 2024

After a bullish market push last week on the CME, countryside spot trading of dry whey is following suit. Prices for dry whey increased at every facet this week. Processors say their stocks of freshly dried loads are either moving or spoken for. Most sentiment from contacts is on the bullish end of the spectrum for near-term market tones. Midwestern production is steadier in the past two weeks than it has been for most of the season. Animal feed whey market tones are mirroring those of edible grade whey. Spot prices moved higher on both ends of the price series. Dry whey market tones are being buoyed by a consistent firmness in higher-protein concentrates, which has shifted the focus of a number of processing plant decision makers.
