Weekly Animal Feed, Central U.S.: Jan. 04, 2024
Dry whey prices were steady to higher this week. Market tones are stable. Single load trades are at and above $.40/lb, while larger volume trading is holding steady in the upper-$.30s. Despite holiday amounts of milk being offered to cheesemakers in the upper Midwest, processing shifts favoring high-protein concentrations have kept dry whey markets buoyed. Contacts also say that Mexican importers are showing more interest in dry whey earlier in the year than expected, which is another bullish factor.
